What does “In the Pink” mean?
Why did I choose the name of my channel and website to be “in the pink?” What does that even mean???? Before recording my first video, I spent a lot of time trying to decide what to name my channel. and website My first choice was “hello healthy lady” but after saying that a few hundred times over the course of a few weeks, I just didn’t like the way it sounded. I nearly simply chose “the women’s health channel.” In fact, I even recorded a few video intros using this name, and I really liked it. Sadly, I realized there were multiple YouTube channels with very similar names and didn’t want to blend in with the rest. I also considered…Healthy She TV, or Healthy Her TV, but those didn’t feel right either. I decided to start looking up phrases that encompassed what I wanted my channel to be about.
I decided to start looking up phrases that encompassed what I wanted my channel to be about.
I googled all kinds of wellness and health words and phrases looking for something unique but descriptive of what I wanted the focus of my channel and website to be about. After what seemed like forever, I stumbled across a phrase that I had actually never heard of. The phrase was “in the pink.” I originally thought I typed in something wrong in my search to come up with a phrase that I initially thought had nothing to do with what I was searching for until I looked into its meaning. In the pink means “in very good health and spirits.” Eureka!!! This was exactly what I wanted my channel to be about overall general good health and happiness. Of course, since I specialize in women’s health, my channel is targeted towards women, which made me love the phrase even more because I love pink and many (I know not everyone) women do too.
In the pink means “in very good health and spirits.”
The phrase “in the pink” dates back to the 1500s and is an English term meaning “in the peak of health,” or in perfect condition. The word pink doesn’t actually refer to the color, but rather a beautiful flower called Dianthus which, even today, the English refer to as “pinks.” At that time the Dianthus was considered to be the pinnacle of floral design and so the word pink came to be known as something being in the pinnacle of excellence.
So with that meaning in mind, I strive to make sure my lifestyle, choices, and health are always “in the pink” and wishing you the same.
